Where have I been?

For those of you that have been checking in looking for something new, I apologize but I have been down with an abscessed tooth. Back in November, a few days before Thanksgiving, I broke a tooth and it abscessed. I was in Indiana at the time visiting family so I went to the emergency room and got some antibiotics. That took care of it temporarily. Well, with all the hustle and bustle of Christmas I never made a dentist appointment when I got home. So it abscessed again. Of course, I went to the dentist and he gave me more antibiotics and now I will be going to get it pulled as soon as all the infection is gone. I am much better now and in no pain so I thought I better catch up on the blog. I have decided to demo a technique each week. I will try to have it posted by Wednesday of each week. If there are techniques you would like to see demonstrated please let me know and I will do my best to get them on here. I will also be posting other things as well so keep checking back or if you become a follower you will be notified when I post something to the blog.

Have a nice day,

Valentine Mailbox

Here is the project that we will be doing at my Open House for the new Spring and Summer Catalog.

It was very easy to make.

Supplies needed:
All Stampin Up Supplies unless otherwise noted.
Pretty in Pink Patterned Designer Paper 4"X6"
Real Red Patterned Designer Paper 4"X6"
Whisper White Cardstock
Pretty in Pink Cardstock
Real Red Cardstock
Scallop Circle Punch
1 3/8" Circle Punch
1 1/4" Circle punch
1" Circle punch
1/2" Circle punch
Full Heart punch
Red, Pink, White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon
A Happy Heart stamp set
Sticky Strip
Pop Up glue dots
Mailbox (Purchased at Target for $1)
uni-ball Signo gel Pen
Real Red Marker

First you will need to punch about half of a 1/2" circle approx. 1/2" from the top left side of red patterned paper. Then punch about half of a 1/2" circle at the bottom left side of the pink patterned paper approx 1/2" from the left side. Adhere to the mailbox using sticky strip with the pink on the top half and the red on the bottom half of the mailbox. Trace and cut out the front of the mailbox out of pink patterned paper and cut a piece of red patterned paper 3" x 1 3/4" and apply to the mailbox. Lightly sand the edges to fit perfectly.

Now cut a strip of Whisper White cardstock 3/4" wide and 4" long. Punch a 1/2" circle toward the top of the strip 1/2" from the left side. cut a slit from the left side to the circle allowing you to slip the piece around the flag. Add a 3/4" strip of white in the front of the mailbox aligning it with the side strip. Apply another 3/4" x 4" strip to the other side of the mailbox aligning with the strip in the front.

Punch out 5 hearts using the full hearts punch out of real red cardstock and 3 out of pretty in pink cardstock. Using gel pen and red marker trace dotted lines around the hearts alternating red and white. Punch out 2 scalloped circles out of pretty in pink cardstock. Using red marker add a dot in each scallop. Layer a white 1 3/8" circle then red 1 1/4" circle. Stamp Feb 14 from the A Happy heart set and punch out using 1" circle punch. Using red marker and gel pen add dashes around white circle. Apply the plain pink scallop behind the flag and other in front of flag aligning the scallops. Apply the hearts around the mailbox as shown in the picture using pop up glue dots. Stamp Happy Valentines Day from the A Happy Heart stamp set on whisper white and cut out. Adhere over the hearts as shown in the picture.

Cut out a back for your mailbox using real red cardstock, add 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the edges of the front and back of mailbox as shown in the picture. Tie a piece of red, pink and white grosgrain ribbon and your mailbox is complete.

For my first entry I thought I would upload a picture of my daughter Ashley, grand daughter Kaylie and her daddy Craig. Kaylie spends a lot of time with me and is a very important part of my life as anyone that has grandchildren knows they hold a very special place in our hearts. I also have 3 other grandchildren that live in Idaho that I unfortunately do not get to see very often. Their names are Ryan, Tristan, and Leah. I have 4 children and their names are Nathan ( he is stationed in Hawaii in the Army) Rachel ( she lives in Idaho), Ashley (lives just a few miles away) and Seth (the youngest who is 18).
